ROBOCOP (Viral Campaign)

ROBOCOP VIRAL BEGINS

Could this be Robocops newly redesigned left shoulder?

In a viral campaign likely to expand during next week's  San Diego Comic-Con, Columbia Pictures and MGM have revealed a first look at the robotic ED-209 design from their upcoming reboot of RoboCop. Based on the company from the film itself, the OmniCorp features, the following mission statement:

ED 209

“For a half-century, these words have set the framework upon which OmniCorp has aimed to build a brighter world.

We don't do passive technology. At OmniCorp, our solutions generate a beacon of safety that we shine upon on the dangers of the day. No matter the obstacle - political, cultural, philosophical - we pursue our convictions around the globe to secure peace of mind at home. And when this requires bold new direction, we never allow doubt to shrink our duty. When your quality of life is in the balance, our leadership team will tip the scales.

Our products have elevated your lives. Our people have inspired your future. Our passion will always be at your side.”

Directed by Jose Padilha, RoboCop is about to enter production with a cast that includes Joel Kinnaman, Gary Oldman, Samuel L. Jackson and Hugh Laurie. It is currently targeting an August 9, 2013 release.

Well the film hasn’t evem begun filming yet, but just looking at the redesigns of ED 209 its safe to say that this new Robocop film will actually be quite cool.

We still not sure how people will take a new design of Robocop since, the old design is kind of iconic. Will Robocop still be walking mechanically slow, talking in a robotic voice and shooting up criminals who don’t know when its time to call it quits?? We really don’t know… but it’s probably safe to say he will be badass!

Maybe the new Robocop will be something like those accelerator suits in G.I Joe: Rise of the Cobra. Not talking design though, talking about capabilities. Maybe Robocop will be fast, fly, can tap into any electronic device, kind of like a modern day superhero that’s akin to Iron Man just with less the Man and its not really a suit. It will probably be more a fusion of sorts between man and machine…

But that’s just us speculating; tell us what do you think of this Robocop reboot?? Should they stick to some the classic elements of the original story or should they just give us a whole new Robocop??
